Avoid taking antibiotics without consulting the dentist because although there is a possibility that the symptoms may diminish, without a specialised treatment they will return.

It is possible for a state of discomfort to appear in the first days after a dental extraction. If you also feel pain, it is recommended to make an emergency appointment with the dentist.

In both cases – discomfort followed or not by pain – it is advisable to contact the dentist to make him aware of the situation.

After a dental extraction bleeeding is also possible. This is not uncommon and it can last for a few hours. If the bleeding cannot be controlled, this is an emergency and you must contact the dentist.

There are different causes which can lead to dental pain. These can be: acute infections, obturations or high dental works, cavities or gum inflammation.

To avoid dental pain, the Swiss Ecodent Klinik recommends you to follow the prevention program which was prescribed by the dentist: specialised medical check-up and periodical dental hygiene and also respecting the oral hygiene instructions.

It is important to contact the dentist for the situation to be swiftly solved. The cavity obturation loss can lead to, if not immediate, increased hot and cold sensitivity and even to nerve damage which can cause dental pain.

There are also situations when the discomfort felt by the patient does not require immediate intervention. After a talk between the doctor and the patient, the former will evaluate the situation and will decide on an emergency appointment or in the following 24 hours with the necessary instructions.

There are some situations that are not considered emergencies because they do not require immediate attention, but still they must not be ignored.
