FAQ

Broken Tooth

The Odontotherapy takes care of the hard substance, certain diseases caused by cavities and small enamel defects up to the point of dental complication of the soft tissue.

At Swiss Ecodent, we perform modern treatments and esthetic restoring using biocompatible materials and techniques.

Dental cavities are infectious injuries that destroy the hard substance of the teeth. When they are at their beginning, these can only be observed by the dentist so it is recommended to keep up with the profilactic sessions. The moment these injuries are noticed by the patient also is the moment they need to be treated as they already causing certain sensitivity to external chemical or thermic factors.

We cannot enhance enough the importance of the regular check-ups with a dentist, as this is the only way to stop teeth damage. If not treated at their specific time, you can get to the point of nerve inflammation which leads to the removal of the nerve and filling of the root canal.

Best is to observe and treat the cavities as soon as possible so the dental tissue is not injured and the treatment is easier, less painful and also at  less costs.

At Swiss Ecodent Klinik you will have the benefit of modern treatments on physiognomical dental fillings performed with high-end biocompatible materials and advanced dental techniques.

A dental crown is recommended by our doctors in the case of major teeth changes on form or structure whether because of dental cavitites or certain accidents. That would be the moment when the teeth cannot be restored by simply filling them.

Dental bridges replace one or more missing teeth and they can have natural teeth or implants as pillars. Either way, our guarantee to you lasts 10-years on prosthetics.

The dental bridges and crowns can be full ceramic, zirconium or metal-ceramic. As a reminder, you will receive a 10-years guarantee.

Inlays and Onlays are dental restorations of the posterior teeth, made out of ceramic or gold. They are recommended when the damage done is too big to have a dental filling but too small to add a dental crown on it. A huge advantage of the composite fillings is that ceramic inlays and onlays are very resistant and esthetic. Both inalys/onlays and dental full ceramic crowns are done in our own dental lab so we can guarantee excellent esthetic and functional results.

Dental prosthesis are recommended to patients who lost most of their natural teeth. Dental prosthesis can be total or partial, fixed or mobile. Total dental prosthesis will replace the whole dentition, while the partial ones are attached to either dental implants or natural healthy existing teeth.

When working on the dental prosthesis our dental tech specialists use high-end technologies that make the result 100% compatible with your specific condition.

Dental facets – Veneeres & Lumineers, are an extremely smooth prosthetic restoration that can improve certain dental defects without compromising teeth health.

Painful Teeth

The examination represents the first contact doctor-patient and is the dentists’ opportunity to evaluate the dental status of the patient.

The dentist will start the consult with an intraoral camera and a dental panoramic x-ray if the case is for a complete examination. During the whole consult, the doctor will show and explain everything they observe.

At the end of this session you will have a personalised treatment plan. This way the doctor will talk you through everything and explain details in order to find the best medical and financial way for you to start the procedures.

Thus, you as the patient will be able to observe closely the evolution of the treatment and the remaining steps.

If complex dental treatments are needed, the options will be highlighted and the plan will be filled out by the specialised doctors in fields such as Surgery, Implantology, Periodontology, Endodontics, Aesthetics, Orthodontics or others.

Multidiscplinary dentistry showed remarkable results on an international level.

Gum Bleeding

Periodontology deals with the treatment of gum or dental bones diseases.

At the Swiss EcoDent dental clinic, we offer the patients treatments for the periodontological diseases starting with the prevention or treating gingivitis and paradontosis, as well as complex treatments such as:

  • Gingivectomy
  • Surgical interventions with or without flap
  • Bone augmentation and bone application/ emdogain covered with a special protective membrane.

The dentists can perform dental surgeries with the help of the dental laser to help make the incision and remove the swelling.

Dental hygiene and Prophylaxis are the most efficient methods for maintaining healthy teeth and avoiding major dental diseases, unsightly appearance and pain.

This is very important because it:

  • reduces the risk of having dental cavities
  • reduces the risk of inflammation and bleedings
  • prevents periodontitis
  • decreases the risk of oral cancer
  • eliminates plaque and food scrap that cannot be removed by simply brushing
  • reduces halitosis – bad breath
  • prevents coffee/tobacco/tea/red wine spots from forming
  • maintains natural white teeth.

At Swiss Ecodent we recommend that each consult starts with a complete prophylaxis session that includes the following steps:

  • scalling – supragingival or subgingival, as the case requires
  • air-flow (water jet mixed under pressure with tiny salt particles that clean teeth coloration after enjoying tobacco/coffee/tea/chocolate/red wine etc.)
  • professional cleaning
  • oral hygiene instructions
  • oral hygiene recommendation.

We usually recommend this prophylactic process as your doctor approves it based on your dental status. This is the reason our team puts into service the Recall program through which you get a reminder about your next prophylaxis session.

Orthodontics specializes in dental procedures that treat malocclusion (incorrect bite). In orthodontics malocclusion is usually the result of irregular grown teeth and/or disproportion between maxillary and mandible.

Why do I need orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontic treatment will make the most out of your teeth and smile by improving your buccal cavity and also your maxillary and mandible. By obtaining a correct bite food will get chewed more comfortable and maintaining healthy teeth and gum becomes easier.

All these will bring out your best smile!

Benefits of following an ortohodontic treatment:

  • Crowded teeth have more space
  • Distant teeth get together
  • Superior and inferior dental arch learn symmetry
  • Correct bite
  • Risk for certain uneven teeth gets reduced
  • Upgrade on oral aesthetic
  • Gettint the area ready for advanced detnal treatment such as crowns, bridges or implants
  • Positioning teeth to correctly erupt.

Orthodontic treatments are usually recommended by the general dentist who will ask for a specialized orthodontics consult.

There are also circumstances when patients ask for an orthodontic treatment without having the opinion of the general dentist. Those could be cases such as:

  • Front teeth too noticeable
  • Too crowded or too distant teeth
  • Maxillary/mandible assymetry
  • Incorrect and uncomforable bite.

What age is the most appropriate for starting an orthodontic treatment?

Each case is individual. In order to determine if a patient needs an orthodontic treatment or not it is important to schedule an appointment with the orthodontist and see what they will tell you.

Most of the children start their orthodontic treatment around 12-13 years old, once they have all permanent teeth.

In certain situations, it is recommendable for children to have a clinical status completed by the orthodontist around the age of 7-9 years old so that the potential orthodontic treatment starts at an earlier age.

Still, age is not an obstacle when thinking of following an orthodontic treatment. Therefore, even adults can start this type of process regardless the age. It is true though that there is one condition on this: the health status of teeth and gums needs to allow this kind of treatment.

First visit

The orthodontist will start by examinating the buccal cavity in order to identify the current clinical status. Also, there is a possibility of further recommending certain x-ray and/or specliazed photographs to be performed. Subsequently, the orthodontist will evaluate the investigation and will talk you through the methods of starting the orthodontic treatment. Together you will shake hands on the best option.

Once the treatment has started, the ortho doctor will get you through every session by explaining the current steps of your treatment and will also let you know about the next visit.

The type of orthodontic treatment will greatly depend on the aspect that needs correction so the orthodontist will evaluate you current status and then present to you with the best option. Each step of the treatment is individual as the patients’ needs. In certain cases, in order to get the best long-term result and great aesthetics is it possible to get a recommendation for teeth extraction as a part of the best treatment.

Important!
Any information that an orthodontic treatment can be finished without extractions should be checked together with a specialist and looked upon with great importance!

How long does an orthodontic treatment take?

A simple teeth straightening could be finished in approximately 6 months, especially when the treatment had focus on the frontal teeth. This is a rather short time for a treatment that shows limited results and it is not recommended as a long-term solution because it does not give the tooth enough time to move also the roots.

Most of the times, the needed time in order to have a teeth armony would be around 1-2 years but it can be longer when we’re presented with more difficult and complicated cases.

During the treatment it is possible to have certain discomfort such as pain or developing a sensitivity when biting because teeth are starting to move in order to get placed in the correct spot. This discomfort will rapidly diminish and be over in a few days or a week, tops. We have to mention that this discomfort as well as its duration can vary from patient to patient.

It is extremely important that you keep in touch with you dentist and visit them systematically, especially during the orthodontic treatment.

Regardless the complexity of the dental issues or even the medical history of the patient – including diabetes, hypertension or osteoporosis, Swiss Ecodent Klinik will find a solution and guarantees success.
